I’m not a winner… but it was fun

The winners for the Big Blog Exchange were announced on Tuesday and unfortunately I didn’t make the list this year. Thanks for all your support and encouragement over the past few months. It’s been a fun experience, I learned a lot, and I plan on entering again next year!

If you want to see the winners list and the exchanges, they are listed here on the competition’s blog.

I’d love to keep seeing you around here and on my other blog The Goal List, which will continue with 2-3 posts/week with stories, inspiration, and resources for achieving your goals and reaching your dreams.

Until next week,
Shelly

Thanks for voting! I’m in the Top 100

(Originally posted on my bucket list blog – The Goal List)

Thanks for voting for me in the Big Blog Exchange. I made it to the finalist round!

Next, the the panel of international judges will pick 14 winners from the top 100 (the 100 are made of the top 25 bloggers from each of the 4 regions). There will also be 2 additional wildcard winners chosen from any of the 633 participants. Winners (all 16 of them) and their exchanges will be announced Sept 16.

Update on the new camera

I tried the new (to me) camera that I got last week and there’s so much delay between when you push to take the camera and when the camera actually takes the picture that I had a really difficult time trying to get a picture that wasn’t blurry.

Then I decided to take a short video of the nails and grab a still photo from one frame, but when I took the memory card out of the camera, I realized that the card was an X D card (instead of the SD cards used now), and the computer I use doesn’t have an X D card reader.

So now I have to get time to get on my old computer that (I think) has the X D card reader, which means that you will be waiting on the pictures for my latest nail art design for a while, unless I go back to using the camera phone.

Update (7/22/14): I found the USB cable so I can download pix directly from the camera to any computer. My dad also gave me a small camera tripod that helps keep the camera steady during the long pause between pushing button and the picture actually being taken. I like it significantly better now.

Update (3/7/14): this camera has a really long delay between pushing the button to take the picture and when the picture actually gets taken. I’m taking video with it and going to pull a screen shot to prevent it from giving me only blurry pictures. I’ll update again when I know if the video is any good. Also, this only uses X D cards, so you need to make sure you have a reader for it (since most have switched to SD cards now).

My father gave me his old digital camera which is a good basic camera and is MUCH better than my 1.3 megapixel phone camera. You will enjoy it because the pictures I add from now on should look way better. It can also take video, so you may see some new videos in the next few months.

I’m charging the battery now, so I’m hoping to try it out in a few hours.

Expanding my focus

I’ve decided to include more than nail art on this blog, but I’m going  to keep the name the same. There will be other arts and crafts projects and pictures/tutorials for those as well.

It’s exciting to start this. I spend a lot of time on things projects so it will be nice to share them with other people. 🙂

Looking forward to interacting with other people interested in the same things.

Welcome!

My goal for Ten Tiny Paintings is that it would be a place for nail art tutorials, designs, and inspiration.

I’ve always liked painting my nails because it really is like ten little paintings (twenty, if you do both mani/pedi). I don’t have a great camera, so some of the pictures will be poor quality to start with, but I figure it is best to get it out than get it perfect.

To start, here is a little poem I found when researching my blog name.
