Paper Bag Decoupage Frame

A few weeks ago I got a new chair and it came with an abundance of brown packing paper. I’ve wanted to try a paper bag decoupage since I saw it in a DIY book as a faux leather look, and since I had the paper, and found an undecorated craft frame in my room, I decided to try it.

How I did it:

Step 1: Mix 2 parts water and 1 part white glue.

Step 2: Crush and wrinkle the brown paper until it softens a bit.

Step 3: Rip pieces of the brown paper so the edges are rough. Make different shapes and sizes.

Step 4: Decoupage! Two ways to do this: One – Paint the frame in the glue mixture, then place a piece of the paper on the frame, and cover with more glue. Or, two – Soak the paper in the glue mixture, wipe off the excess glue with your fingers, and place it on the frame. Smooth down to the frame.

Step 5: When you place the next piece, overlap the pieces. Cover all the frame and when you’re done with however many layers you want, seal the whole thing with the glue mixture and let dry.
